Mom at Sixteen/Too Young to Be a Dad (2002) Review

I recently saw this movie on Lifetime movie network. WOW! This is one of the best movies that have ever seen. This movie shows just what it would be like for a teen if they were to be a parent. I was really surprised about the outcome, and I would explain more, but then you would not have any reason to watch it. This movie showed how to be responsible for your actions, and that you need to think about what you are doing before you do it. If you have ever had this type of situation happen in the family, or are expierencing it right now, I would suggest that you watch this film.

Plain Truth (2004) Review

I happened to come across this movie completely by accident one night while channel-surfing. I have to say that I tend to avoid the Lifetime channel as a rule, but this particular night I came across the beginning of this movie and it looked interesting. So I gave it a chance. Wow, what a surprise! This turned out to be quite an enjoyable movie with tons more depth and intrigue than a typical Lifetime made-for-television movie will offer. In fact I would even rate it among the top movies I've seen recently.
Alison Pill plays a young Amish girl who is arrested on suspicion of killing her newborn child. Normally, the "girl gets arrested for killing her baby" wouldn't make for a very worthwhile movie plot since this topic is nothing new, but having an Amish girl be in the center of it all adds an unusual twist to the movie, one of the things it has going for it. And Alison Pill nails this role; I'm shocked that she has not been in more well-known movies. Her acting talent is obvious from the beginning, not to mention being quite attractive. Equally as good is Mariska Hargitay as the lawyer who represents her in court. And she isn't too hard on the eyes either. I don't mean to harp on about the attractiveness of the 2 women in the lead roles, but hey, it certainly doesn't hurt to have that as a bonus.
But getting back to the merits of the movie, don't let the word "Lifetime" discourage you. Believe me, I've done my fair share of cringing from the painfully-bad movies that Lifetime tends to show. But I can assure you that "Plain Truth" is a welcome change, with some great plot twists (you won't see the final one coming a mile away). Highly recommended!

In a Chicago jail cell, clever and charming Ellena Roberts recounts for attorney Sara Miller the details of a one-night stand that led to a heated love affair with prominent surgeon David Stillman. David's version of the facts differs entirely and he insists that he never slept with Ellena. Sure that the doctor is the one who's lying, Sara is preparing to defend her client in court when some disturbing facts emerge.

Sex & The Single Mom (2003) Review

Sex and The Single Mom (2003)

Usually, in stories like this, a teenage girl gets careless, becomes pregnant, and has to hide it from her mother. But here, it's the mother who gets careless, becomes pregnant, and has to hide it from her daughter! The aforementioned (single) mother has been discouraging her teenage daughter from becoming sexually active, while carrying on a wild, secret affair with a married man. When she becomes pregnant and her lover abandons her, she has to face her own hypocrisy. This film is a cut above most made-for-Lifetime-TV movies, thanks largely to Gail O'Grady's performance as the mother - she's always luminous and likable, even when some might question her behavior. Credit must also go to Danielle Panabaker as the daughter.
