(More customer reviews)Coopers Christmas is one of those films you either love or hate. Being a film viewer who loves the offbeat productions (Man With the Screaming Brain, Bride and the Gorilla), this one is alright.
Films of this genre often hit and miss in the same scenes. This film is like that. It is both funny, vulgar, and crude at the same time. The 1985 family christmas of the Coopers goes awry when Uncle Nick arrives to spend the holiday with them. Christmas turns from fun to fanatic. There is physical comedy, dirty comedy, and innuendo. Much like Cheech and Chong, the comedy works at many levels.
One key element of the film is the VHS video camera. Having been filmed from an early age by our father in 8 mm, VHS, then beta, hi 8 and now digital 8, you just can't replace the first family videos as much as you might like to.
The film stars Samantha Bee, Jason Jones, Dylan Everett, and Mike Beaver. Some film casts just work well.
If you are fans of National Lampoons' productions, then you will like this one.
