Bavarian Sex Comedy Collection (1970)

As a man who has enjoyed the new-found popularity of old grindhouse and sexploitation films, I have to say that the films were excellent examples of German sex comedies. As is typical, the humor is often juvenile but the nudity is far better that you would ever see in it's American counterparts. People rarely buy these for the subtle humor, right? With that being said, I was highly disappointed in the transfer quality. I am not looking for anything perfect, with these films not exactly deserving of the full shine and polish, but some effort should have been made to reduce the skips and jumps. There are three or four times that you can see tracking errors from the original shoddy VHS that these were pulled from. These actually obscure the picture in several places and some jumps can be seen. I am guessing that the studio never watched the final product....
Otherwise these are fun and sexy, (if not particularly memorable) films.

The Stabilizer Review

The Stabilizer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A friend and I like to watch bad films, and he found out about this little gem. It has three times the action and none of the logic of other action films. The hero looks a lot like Brian May from Queen. My favorite part of the film is when the Stabilizer's arch-nemesis, Greg Rainmaker, is in his (The Stabilizer's) fiance's apartment, and on the wall she has a picture of the Stabilizer. Okay, so there's nothing unusual about having a picture of your boyfriend or fiance on your wall, but in this picture he is wearing sunglasses, a mesh shirt, and HOLDING A GUN. Later in the film, Rainmaker is in his lair, and he fires a gun at THE SAME PICTURE, HANGING IN HIS LAIR! He didn't take it from the fiance's apartment either -- somehow, he too had a picture of The Stabilizer, looking tough and brandishing a gun! Perhaps this year when I send out Christmas cards, I'll enclose a picture of myself, possibly without pants, holding a semi-automatic rifle.
A brief warning: if (for some ungodly reason) you are watching this in the company of children, the film starts out with an introduction by the distributor, Troma (which goes on WAY too long by the way) which features a topless woman.
If you like bad films, I recommend this.

Top Dog (1995) Review

Top Dog (1995)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In "Top Dog", Chuck Norris again plays a tough cop who prefers to work alone, very much like in "Lone Wolf McQuade". His boss forces him to work with a partner, only this time the new partner turns out to be a dog named Reno, Together, they must stop a violent white supremacist group and at the same time find out who killed Reno's last partner.
Watching "Top Dog", I get the feeling the filmmakers couldn't decide who their target audience was. The cop/dog story, and a subplot involving a young boy suggests a family film, but the film is no less violent than many other Norris films. I doubt if it's suitable for children. On the other hand, some scenes feel very much like a family film and aren't likely to appeal to action or Chuck Norris fans. To me the film would have been better without those scenes. It's still an entertaining grade B film with both action and humor. The interaction between Norris and his dog is more fun than that of James Belushi and his dog in "K-9". Recommended to Norris fans and fans of lightweight action/comedies who can overlook the more silly parts of the film.

American Parkour Presents: Parkour Tutorial Volume 1

I found this DVD to be very disappointing. Ofcourse I've been doing parkour for 6 years so, you can see why.
Let me explain. This DVD is WONDERFUL if you are a newcomer to the Parkour scene...Get it, I wish I had this DVD when I was a newcomer, it discusses what to do and what NOT to do, VERY ACCURATELY. Its a VERY well compiled DVD.
This DVD is recommended for beginners, especially if you want to learn the basics. Be warned its only 45 mins long, its very detailed though.
I DO NOT recommend you getting this if you are an experienced freerunner, You will just be reviewing the basics of parkour.
This could potentialy become a newcomers necessity.

After the Promise (1987) Review

After the Promise (1987)

I saw this movie but once many years ago when it was first released. It is a difficult movie to find, and I wonder what mystery surrounds the movie itself as to why it is a rare find. I say for those of us whom have the chance to get it do so as it may become one of the rarest movies to ever be found in the future. I know there are some controversial subjects within the movie that may have made it an "undesirable" movie to market,.....such as sterilization (castration) at asylums for young orphan boys. Whatever the reason, the movie was well acted by Mark Harmon and his supporting cast. This movie will leave you touched deeply and probably like myself and others; will not escape your memory any time soon. Brilliant and Touching, this is one that should be kept locked up and preserved indefinately.

Queen's Blade Wandering Warrior: Beaten Path (2008) Review

Queen's Blade Wandering Warrior: Beaten Path (2008)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Queen's Blade is a series that is built upon its superb characters, and the second volume of the anime expands the cast past the introductory characters from the first volume. As the first season enters it's halfway point the foundation begins to establish itself by introducing more characters and expanding the characters of the existing ones. The action, character development, diverse vistas, and great music are all back in stronger form than in the first volume; sure to satisfy anyone who was not satisfied by the action in the first volume.
The fanservice is still in strong form in this volume, perhaps even stronger than the first, but, as always, the series executes it's fanservice with sophistication and toungue-in-cheek moments of humor. This is one of the main highlights of the series; how the fanservice in Queen's Blade never feels forced, unnecessary, or juvenile in it's execution. As a result, Queen's Blade comes across as a fanservice anime that one can respect for it's characters, story, humor, and action rather than one of those anime one hides under their bed.
With this volume, Queen's Blade is at the midway point of it's first season; however, the entire first season acts as a foundation for the simply stellar second season. This is why I give it 4 stars. The second season is definite 5 star material.

Jett Jackson: The Movie (2001) Review

Jett Jackson: The Movie (2001)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"Jett Jackson The Movie" is like a cross between "The Parent Trap" and "Pleasantville". Filmed near the end of the Disney Channel series "The Famous Jett Jackson", it expands the series premise to a new feature length movie (this is all new stuff-not a group of old episodes edited together). As in the series, Lee Thompson Young plays the title character-a high school student who is also the star of a futuristic television series where he plays a teen action hero named Silverstone. At the beginning of the movie he is struggling with whether to renew his contract with the show, which is seriously cramping his school and social life. Meanwhile on the show his Silverstone character is unhappy working at Mission Omega Matrix.
One day on the set a malfunctioning prop transports him to a parallel world where he is actually the action hero he is playing. The accident causes him to switch places with his on- screen character, who is transported to Jett's world of family, school, and television. The remainder of the movie concerns the process of Jett and Silverstone figuring out what has happened to them and the challenges of taking over each other's lives. Both the series and the movie have excellent casts with Michael Ironside as the television villain Kragg, Lindy Booth as Silverstone's partner Hawk, Ryan Sommers Baum as Jett's friend J.B., and Kerry Duff (no relation to Hillary) as his love interest.
This is an entertaining film, especially for those who enjoy the series. It has the good production elements of more expensive Disney features including a lot of close-ups of the cast and some nice morphing effects. The series itself was a cheaper production, it relied mostly on wide shots and had minimal effects.
The film's limited popularity is probably because it is a bit too serious; they could have had a lot more fun with the premise. Young is not very good at expressing wide-eyed wonder at what is happening to either of his characters, he just looks stunned most of the time.
Then again, what do I know? I'm only a child.

The Journey of August King is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. August King finally has the deed to his land and home and while he is traveling back to his home he comes across a runaway slave. The goodness in August allows him to help her. He sacrifices everything for this slave and he never asked for anything in return. The scenery in the movie is overwhelming. It's beauty is at times undescribable. There's not much dialogue in this movie but when you reach the end you're like wow, that was a great movie. I've watched this movie many times and I am still awed by it. If your looking for a truly heartwarming story this is the one. I highly recommend this movie.

Immoral Women (1979) Review

Immoral Women (1979)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"Les Hérones du Mal" (Heroines of Evil) is the original title of this film by Walerian Borowczyk. The film occupies that grey-zone between Arthouse and Softporn. Its theme is of wronged women seeking revenge. However audiences will invariably fixate on Borowczyk's fascination with bestiality. There are three separate stories, lasting roughly 40 minutes each. The first is titled "Margherita" and is set in Renaissance Rome. Poor baker's daughter, Margherita, uses her beauty to bed and kill the rich and powerful men who lust after her. The second, titled "Marceline," is about a young girl who enjoys sexual romps with her pet rabbit. When her repressive and somewhat nutty parents have the rabbit killed and cooked for dinner, she goes berserk, gets the local black butcher to deflower her in the slaughterhouse and then returns home to slice her parents' throats. The third story titled "Marie" is about a young woman who is kidnapped, held for ransom and raped by her captor while her ineffectual husband bumbles around. She is saved by her heroic pet dog who gives her useless husband a bite in the balls for good measure before claiming his reward from the grateful victim.
Needless to say if bestiality offends you, stay away. Personally I didn't find it offensive. However I did find it boring - I actually nodded off halfway through and that is a bad sign for any film. I watched it again on a separate occasion to give it the benefit of the doubt before coming to any conclusion. Parts of it were erotic and production values were generally high. Photography especially was very good. Everything is in soft-focus and filmed under soft lighting. The women are lovely and they are beautifully attired - or not, as the case may be. The film relies on a refreshing Renaissance-style music score, giving it a certain touch of class. However it just didn't come together. The high-art style of erotica, the beautiful photography and the deliberate silliness and implausibility in the screenwriting and plot didn't mesh. The post-production dubbing with poor lip-synching (even in the original French track) didn't help. Well, at least for me. Some viewers might very well enjoy it - as several reviews here attest. It might very well fascinate Americans unfamiliar with the topic and who find the very idea "jaw-dropping" and "ground-breaking".
The sex is not explicit. Neither is there much of it. But it is well done and pretty to look at. The film would garner an NC-17 solely due to the implied bestiality - the closest it actually gets to the real stuff is the little bunny rabbit nibbling on Marceline's luxuriant bush while she writhes in pleasure (a rather cute scene, beautifully photographed) - the dog's high point is biting the husband's balls; we never get to see it having its way with the wife.
Severin of course doesn't disappoint with its lovely and quite flawless transfer of this 1979 film. Colours are mostly pastel-hued but always true and pleasing to the eye. Black level is perfect. The film is presented in its original 1.66:1 aspect ratio, pillarboxed into an anamorphic frame (enhanced for widescreen TV). The original French 2.0 Mono track is provided, along with an alternate English 2.0 Mono dub. The sound has good presence and dialogue is clear throughout. Optional English subtitles are also provided. The only Extras are the original theatrical trailer and a biography of Walerian Borowczyk.

This is a 32 minute Rolie Polie Olie tape! That's 8 minutes longer then all the other tapes. These stories are all top notch. The first one is about Christmas (Jingle Jangle Day) and the other three are not. The second story is about a really hot day where Dad makes an ice skating rink with one of his famous inventions. They all have lots of fun on the ice. The third story is about an ice cream planet that they visit and have tons of fun spinning in bowls, sliding on spoons and eating all the ice cream they can stand. The last story is about a falling lost baby star named Starry. They have to devise a way to get Starry back home to his mom and dad. A really cute tale! This is as good as Toddler entertainment gets! A must have. My 18-month-old girl thinks Rolie Polie Olie is better then Elmo and Barnet combined!

This movie is an edge of your seat movie that keeps you watching from start to finish. This is about a man who says he is going on field trips for work, but instead is going to the house of his other wife, which wife #1 does not know about. I could not stop watching this. I tried predicting what was going to happen next, but I was wrong, and I loved that I was wrong. Too many movies are too predictable and this one is not at all. This is easily the best movie I have ever seen. Rent it or buy it today. It is more than worth it. The ending is shocking. I could of never guessed what was going to happen, and this movie is full of surprises. I love it. Wicked Ways is an A+ movie! I was extremely impressed the first time I watched it. This movie deserves five stars. Any movie that can hook me into it so good that I do not want to leave my seat, deserves the honor of me writing this review to tell everyone else out there, that this is not just anyone predictable thriller, it is one of the best movies out there! I haven't told you much about the plot and the shocking surprises, and that is because I want you to see it for yourself. Go see it!! Bare Behind Bars (1980) Review

Bare Behind Bars (1980)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am not a fan of WIP (Women-In-Prison) movies. Generally I find them numbingly boring and falling far short of their sensationalistic claims. My preference in WIP movies is for hard and nasty scenes. Oswaldo De Oliveira's "Bare Behind Bars" goes the opposite route, highlighting camp and comedy. Given its limitations, it is still miles above the normal drivel. However, like other WIP movies, it doesn't live up top its promise of "brutal beatings, steamy showers, vicious violence and savage sexuality."
It is more laugh-out-loud funny than erotic. It is very tongue-in-cheek and doesn't take itself seriously for an instant. The acting is deliberately bad, over-the-top and cartoonish. And that is actually its saving grace, because it makes you laugh at the silliness of it all. Just sample the scene of the horny inmates using a makeshift pulley to slowly winch a dildo in between their cells at night. Or the wacky ether-addicted nurse who tries to take the Warden's blood pressure by wrapping the cuff around her neck. Or her buttock-grinding scene with her inmate lover which culminates with her introduction of the infamous pineapple dildo.
Thankfully the women in this prison are almost all deliciously hot and spend most of the time happily naked. And that includes the guards. My favorite here is the blond second-in-command. Sadly she doesn't have a sex scene of her own. To top it off, this version comes with hardcore elements fully integrated into the whole. On the downside, most of the scenes which should have been sleazy or degrading are here played only for laughs. The two "full-cavity searches" are more funny than erotic. The whipping scenes are so mechanical and perfunctory as to be devoid of any eroticism. The "steamy showers" are more like shower parties. The only violence of real standing are the two instances of sliced penises, one thrown to the dog, the other stuffed into its former owner's mouth. Now, that was worth watching.
The X-rating is justified. We are treated to blowjobs, dildo insertions, strapon action, amd full penetrative sex.
Blue Underground has done a beautiful restoration of this 25 year old film and presents it in its original widescreen aspect of 1.66:1 with anamorphic enhancement. Colors are rich, vibrant and accurate. The picture is sharp and richly detailed. Only an English-dub mono soundtrack has been provided. No other soundtracks are included although the actors are most likely speaking Portuguese and poor lip-synching is very evident throughout. Offering less than what was advertised and less than what I expected, it nevertheless was a fun and enjoyable romp. As a piece of camp cinema it's definitely worth at least a rental.

In a women's penitentiary where brutal beatings, steamy showers, and full cavity searches are the order of the day, the cons are turning into pros - and the cemetery is running out of room! To stay out of the torture chamber, the inmates can barter their bodies in the wicked warden's white slave trade, or submit to the nympho nurse's peculiar brand of medical malpractice. But when these lawless lovelies go on the lam to wreak vengeance on straight society, no one will be safe!Prolific purveyor of perversion Oswaldo De Oliveira's (AMAZON JAIL) piece de resistance is presented here in its X-Rated entirety. A cornucopia of comely convicts (including International beauty queen Marta Anderson of MASSACRE IN DINOSAUR VALLEY and PERVERSION Scream Queen Nadia Destro) bare it all, as every frame of vicious violence, savage sexuality, and inappropriate use of pineapples, is presented pristine and intact for the first time ever in America!Extras include Theatrical Trailer

Girls on Film 2 Review

Girls on Film 2
Average Reviews:

This DVD contains 4 short films.
The first film, DEBS, is about 7 minutes long and was the most entertaining of the bunch (two very gorgeous girls making out in the middle of a gun fight between the goodies and the baddies).
The middle two films left me cold. One short was about a lesbian couple who goes to visit one of the partners sister who is transgendering into the man. Amanda Bearse (sp?) plays the sister who is a furious bitch to her tranny sister. This film was a major downer and I didn't see the point of it.
The third film was about a little girl who wants to fly and lives with her trailer trash mom and older sister. The girl is basically ignored unless she does something wrong. She runs away to a neighboror who everyone thinks is freak and they have a brief but touching discussion. I didn't see what this film had to do with lesbians and I was very disappointed because of this fact.
The fourth short film is a series of scenes taken from about a dozen famous films but with a gay spin (example: From Here to Eternity has two women making out a beach, Casablanca has Rick saying goodbye to his very femmy boyfriend, Young Frankenstein has a big gay monster doing it to the effeminate guy in the hay loft and so on.) Most of these short movie scenes were very enjoyable.
What I object to regarding this DVD is that it did not have a lot of lesbians and/or lesbian action, and/or the films were depressing. This DVD was not worth $25 but would be worth renting at Netflicks since you can bet your sweet bippy this DVD ain't ever going to show up at Blockbuster or Hollywood Video.

Living Hell: A Japanese Chainsaw Massacre Review

Living Hell: A Japanese Chainsaw Massacre
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a huge fan of Japanese horror. I try to get my hands on as many of these films as possible. One of the things I especially like about J-Horror are the originality of the ideas and the emphasis on truly scaring the viewer by taking the horror seriously instead of reverting to self-referentiality and comedy. "Living Hell" seemed to promise a different type of J-Horror; instead of subtlety and spookiness (with little blood) this one was advertised as a gory bloodbath, "the Japanese TCM" in other words. It also compared it to other modern horror chef d'oeuvres as "Evil Dead" and "Cabin Fever". Huh? Have I watched the same film? Frankly, "Living Hell" does not in any way approach the level of ferocious originality those films had and I fail to see the similarities.
2 brothers and their sister, all in their twenties, share the same house that is owned by their father, often away on business trips. One day they receive word that two distant relatives (a 70-year old grandmother and 22-year old granddaughter) whose family were murdered will be moving in with them. As they move in, we see right away that the two are mighty strange; the grandmother is senile and barely says anything, same with the granddaughter who is completely mute. Not only do they never talk but they are curiously devoid of any expression. Wheelchair-bound Yasu will soon discover there is something mighty wrong with these two and soon falls under the guise of their torture techniques.
The film started off okay, as we were presented to some very intriguing characters. You wouldn't think a 70-year old grandmother and her frail 22-year old granddaughter would look scary...but they are! The way they just stood there looking like ice statues totally devoid of expression, except for a trace of madness in their eyes definitely creeped me out. You just know something seriously bad is bound to happen. They are about as unlikely a pair of killers as you're going to get and that's part of the problem; I never believed for one bit that these two could be so dangerous. For one, none of their victims even try to defend themselves and these are two frail and physically weak women! The worst is Yasu, who is one of the wimpiest guys I've ever seen in a horror movie. I kept wanting to scream at my TV "Get a backbone for pete's sake!". I realize the poor guy is in a wheelchair but how about using your upper-body to ward them off...But no, he just spends the whole movie whining and wimpering while they torture him.
I don't speak Japanese so it's hard for me to truly gauge quality of acting but that didn't stop me from noticing how poor it all was, just by the intonations of voice, wooden expressions and awkward movements. To people fluent in Japanese, it must come across as a real turkey. As for the gore, yes this movie is gory but not in a splatter sense, most of the gore is related to torture and I must admit that several of these scenes were especially creative (Root canal, cockroach, etc.). Too bad the creative ideas of gore were not supplemented with creative storytelling. To top it off, the film takes a further nosedive due to a completely nonsensical ending. It tries to be clever and tie up the illogical aspects of the story but instead drives it ever deeper into its grave. If you love Japanese horror as much as I do, you might still want to give this a try as it is mildly entertaining at times and due to the gore. As for me, I would gladly take those 90 minutes back.

Bound to a wheelchair, life has been difficult for poor Yasu (Hirohito Honda of Battle Royale). His mother has vanished, his father and brother think he's crazy, and his sister shelters him from the outside world. But Yasu has yet to experience the true meaning of torture until new relatives mysteriously move in. Labeled "The Japanese Chainsaw Massacre" (minus the chainsaws) by fans, director Shugo Fujii has fashioned a mysterious horror film with stylish sequences that pay homage to directors Brian De Palma and Alfred Hitchcock. Filled with moments of sheer terror, Living Hell joins ranks alongside Ringu (The Ring) and Ju-On (The Grudge) as a masterpiece of modern Asian horror.

Masked Avengers (1982) Review

Masked Avengers may be my favourite Shaw Brothers film... certainly it rates highly. I've bought, copied and stayed up late to tape it more times than bear mention. Naturally I was thrilled to see it on DVD... in digital format at last!!
But the product is mediocre at best. It is mastered from a very old video copy with plenty of artifacts, and very clearly not from film. It's not letterboxed, making much of the dialogue literally one-sided (since you can only see half of the screen), and as with other films released by NS and Ground Zero, there are gaps in the sound. To put it bluntly, there are plenty of better copies out there in private collections. Even the uncompleted synopsis on the box ("...a stunning climax at the Mask Gang's"-- what? The Masked Gang's what?!) indicates the level of carelessness that went into this "Limited Collector's Edition."
Still, this is likely to be the one and only digital print of a Chang Cheh milestone, and it's no worse than a 3am broadcast of Black Belt Theatre. Unfortunately, it's no better. Admittedly it's nice to see these old workhorses finally being immortalised and made available for sale. It would be nicer, however, if it could be done professionally, and with a bit of the affection that makes diehard fans buy them

All Night Long Collection (2003) Review

All Night Long Collection (2003)

Japanese people are just plain scary. I'm not being prejudiced, because I love the Japanese but they have created some of the most gut wrenching and mortifying movies ever made. Audition and the Guinea Pig series come to mind. But this puts those to shame (except maybe Devil's Experiment, and Flowers of Flesh and Blood) as one of the most unsettling films ever made.
All Night Long:
The story in this one is three guys are one day standing at a railroad crossing waiting for the bars to raise up, when a crazed man comes up to a girl. The man kills the girl right in front of the three guys. And then was about to murder one of them when another rams the guy with his motorcycle. The three decide to celebrate by having a "party" in which they are all to bring a girl over for some fun. One of the guys actually falls in love with the girl he was going to bring to the party, but is murdered by a group of young men that bully and harass people. The guy goes insane and gets the others to come with him to kill the group. When one tries to back out. He is threatened that when they are done with the group they'll come and kill him.
The movie is quite unsettling and quite graphic in its portrayl of rape and murder. It especially show rather effectively one of the character's descent into insanity.
All Night Long 2: Atrocity:
The best of the three on this collection in my opinion. The story focuses on a nerdy student named Shinichi during his summer vacation. Shinichi is a shy and quiet individual who's only solice in life comes from painting a model of a nude manga girl. One day A rich kid and his gang of thugs start picking on Shinichi. They beat him up and torch his model. Then one day Shinichi is visited by the leader of the thugs. Claiming that he wouldn't be harmed, Shinichi takes the invitation to go to the leaders home. There the leader shows Shinichi a girl that one of the thugs have kidnapped, and raped. the leader shows Shinichi how he is capable of being abusive, and cruel to people that are "trash." This movie is more F***ed up than the first ANL movie. Maybe it is because it looks like it was filmed with a personal camcorder, and was made on a relatively low budget. This movie was actually more upsetting than the most vile of the Guinea Pig movies. This one is definitely not for the weak of heart or stomach.
All Night Long 3: Final Atrocity:
First off I would like to say that the title is misleading, there are two more All Night Long movies that were made after this one. This one was actually sort of a letdown, especially after the great horror that was Atrocity. Although this one is a bit more offensive. It focuses on Kiku, a mentally handicapped guy who works in a love hotel. He is a normal person until one night he comes across some of a female neighbor's garbage. He takes it home and nails some of it to his walls. I'm talking everything even used tampons. He then starts becoming obsessed with this girl. Always stealing her garbage, leering at her at her work. He even gets pissed when a guy takes her to the love hotel he works at. He also meets up with an old man who has been doing the same thing Kiku has been doing, stealing people's garbage, but he's been doing it for years. Kitamura (the director) really shows off the message of the movie series, that message being, humans are garbage, in this movie.
In short this is one of the most f***ed up series of movies to ever have been released. If you are the type that is easily upset by this style of movie you should avoid it like the plague. It is deeply disturbing and makes you say WTF more than once after you have watched them. If your into Guinea Pig, Audition, or Ebola Syndrome you would like this collection. Just be prepared for a sickening experience. Also if you're thinking about buying these movies, buy the boxset. It only costs thirty dollars, for all three of them. That is more cost effective than buying all of three of them seperately for around ninety dollars.
