Child Star - The Shirley Temple Story (2001) Review

Child Star - The Shirley Temple Story (2001)

When this movie was first played on TV, I was so excited because I have been a major Shirley fan since I was 9(I'm now 21) but when I was watched I was highly dissapointed. The story is supposed to be based on Shirley Temple Black's autobiography "Child Star" and I only saw a handful of items that were actually taken from the book, the rest of it was just fluff. Plus they didn't go past Shirley's early teens when the book covers up until after she marries her second husband. They seemed to only want to focus on the happy aspects of Shirley's life but she and her family were not always so happy go lucky. Ashley Orr is horrific at playing Shirley-first of all she's too old to play 5,6,7 and even 8 year old Shirley and she was too sticky sweet, I know Shirley was too but not that sweet. I would have actually given this movie 0 stars if I had the option, it was horrible. So if you want to know the real story find her book "Child Star" and if you want to see the real Shirley work her magic on the screen go find any of her movies and stay away from this one.
"Bright eyes" , "Heidi" , and "Poor Little Rich Girl" are good movies to start off with.

The Tinto Brass Collection, Volume I Review

The Tinto Brass Collection, Volume I
Average Reviews:

I fell in love with Tinto Brass movies from my first viewing of Frivolous Lola. It is the type of movie which is right up my alley. These are not porn movies, however, they are very erotic and sexy. Best of all the women in these films are not overly shaved, air-brushed, been under the knife too many times, plastic Barbi want-a-bes. These are real women, with real curves, real hair (you know which hair I am talking about) and real personalities. Best of all, most of Tinto Brass' female stars are Italian. I usually watch these films in Italian with the subtitles on, just to hear the melody of the language.
Plot-wise, almost every one of his films are the same (except Salon Kitty,) hapless, jealous, and hopelessly sexually repressed boyfriend/husband; free-spirited, sexually adventurous girlfriend/wife (did I mention hot & usually Italian), conflict ensues, erotic adventure takes place, resolution and a happy ending. What more could one want in life?
All Ladies Do It is the best of these three films, if you are ordering them one at a time. The women in Volume I lean more towards the more mature and curvaceous, while the heroines in Volume 2 lean more toward the young and innocent. All are pleasing to the eye. Happy viewing.

Wonders of God's Creation, Vol. 1-6 (2005) Review

This is an excellent program that reveals a lot of the truths of creation and its mention in the word of God. It very tastefully presents the scientific facts and evidence in support of creation. Wonderful cinematography...very beautifully done. It would be a useful tool in educating people on creation without attempting to force religion on them. This is not an attempt at disproving evolution; it is a series showing the evidence pointing to creation. Very good stuff!

The Amityville Horror Collection is a nice little DVD box set. You get 3 movies: The Amityville Horror / Amityville II: The Possession / Amityville 3-D, and a Bonus Disc - Amityville Confidential. Now nothing can compare to the original Amityville Horror as the newer ones got a bit out of hand. Im here to focus more on the DVD collection rather than the movies. This Collection will truly be appreciated by fans of the Amityville movies. You get a lot of great stuff with this collection. First you get a choice of either a High Definition, 16x9 Widescreen version of the film or a regular Full screen version. You also get great 5.1 Dolby Digital sound that brings new life to these films along with a choice of a regular mono track. The movies also include subtitle options in English, Spanish, and French. The amazing clarity makes the movies look like they just came out yesterday. These are HUGE improvements when compared to the old VHS versions of these films. Some of the other extras on this collection are: Audio Commentary by Dr. Hans Holzer, Ph.D. in parapsychology, "For God's Sake, Get Out" documentary, Radio spots, and the Original theatrical trailers. You get to see the theatrical trailer for THE AMITYVILLE 2005 remake which (in the bonus disc) they say the new movie is more based on the book than the original movie, and with the technology now days they can do more things from the book that they cound not do in the original film. You even get a free movie ticket to see The Amityville Horror (2005) staring Ryan Reynolds. Last but not least you get an awesome BONUS DISC called The Amityville Confidential. On the Bonus disc you get 3 great features:
1. On Location: A short little behind the scenes making of The NEW Amityville Horror (2005 Remake) which is released in the U.S. Apil 15, 2005.
2. The History Channel documentary Amityville: Horror or Hoax?
3. The History Channel documentary Amityville: The Haunting
What can I say this is a great DVD Collection with some great stuff. I encourage anyone who appreciates these movies to get this great collection. This is well worth the money for all that you get!

The Supergirl Movie and Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut are not included in this set and are sold separately. This set is also not to be confused with the 14-disc Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, which features a ton more additional content. To appease all the fans, WB is targeting the more affordable Christopher Reeve Collection for the general public and the more expensive Ultimate Collection for the collectors. Despite owning the 2001 DVDs of the Superman movies, I was still excited to add these new releases to my collection as all of the movies have supplemental material this time around, instead of just the first film. It's also fitting that Christopher Reeve's name has been added to this collection, as it shows how synonymous he's become with the Superman legacy. His brilliant performances brought a larger than life appeal to the Man of Steel that still has yet to be eclipsed. The Superman movies may have their fair share of flaws, but they're still wildly entertaining even after all these years and worth adding to anyone's collection!

All About John Deere for Kids, 4-DVD Collection Review

All About John Deere for Kids, 4-DVD Collection

Unfortunately, when I was buying them I had to buy them one at a time. All four dvds hold the attention of my son, who began watching them before he was two and continues to watch them at 3+. They are interesting and even parents can tolerate them, unlike many of the silly kiddie dvds that are out there. While they aren't directly "educational" in the traditional sense, my kid learns a lot from them. He can distinguish between all kinds of farm and heavy equipment and knows what they are used for. I had no idea there was a machine called a fellerbuncher. These dvds are much more fun for Dad than ABC's, purple critters and blue dogs.
If you have a young son, I highly recommend this set. You won't be disappointed. (Girls may like them too, but I wouldn't know anything about that.)
