I've never bothered to review anything here before but i just had to say how amazing i thought this show was. I was only introduced to it a couple of weeks ago (I'm from the UK, so you can imagine how much air time is given to little known Canadian sit-com's : None !).
This is truely up there with the best sitcoms i've ever seen, the script, direction and acting are all flawless from beginning to end, which led to me watching series one and two in a single sitting !
This show needs to be picked up in the US and UK as I can't imagine anyone not liking it.
In short - Buy this, Buy everything to do with Trailer Park Boys, tell your friends, move to canada, live in a car, eat pepperoni, F**k off !

This is a great weird, off beat movie. Carl Weathers, Justin Long, John Heder and some other familiar faces. I think this movie is better than Napolean Dynamite. The story angles are unique and Hubbel Palmer does a great job as does Rob Pinkston from "Punkd" fame. Get it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Extra Weird Sampler (2003) Review

Extra Weird Sampler (2003)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you are a fan of B-Movies, or just want to become a bit more familiar with the genre, this DVD is an absolute steal! I bought this "Something Weird Sampler" because of the low price, but my expectations were not high. I say with a grin "How wrong I was!"
A combination of theater trailers and 5-10 minutes snipets of flicks, The Sampler is an absolute video feast. What makes this budget buy so valuable is that a good portion of these films are unwatchable as full length films, but a sampling of the film or its trailer is priceless.
A few of the films like "Confessions of a Psycho-Cat" and "Swamp Girl" are low budget gems I enjoy on their entirety. The trailers for both these movies are included, and are every bit as awesome as the films themselves (by the way, the man being gored to death by the "Lady Matador Psycho-Cat" is none other than Jake LaMotta!).
And if you are one of those fans of 1960s nudie & cheesecake movies, this trailer compilation has nudity galore in many of these previews, including "Wham-Bam Thank You Spaceman," "Nude on the Moon," and "Kiss Me Quick."
Other truly hep trailers include "Kidnapped Co-Ed," "Two Thousand Maniacs," "Mantis In Lace" (late 1960s classic about a stripper who, under the influence of LSD, becomes a killing machine!), "Johnny Firecloud," "For The Hell Of It," and LOTS MORE!
I truly hope there is a sequel to this Sampler. It would be great to see other trailers and samplings that Something Weird Video does have in their library like "Pot, Parents and Police," "The Psychedelic Priest," and "The Adventures of Lucky Pierre."

Oh...my...goodness...this movie was the funniest thing I've seen IN the theater in a long time. I usually wait for movies to come out on DVD, but this looked pretty interesting, and I wasn't disappointed. It was hilarious!
Finally, a film that shows women are funny too. Kristen Wiggs is stellar, her character is so messed up, but you know there is hope for her. I was sort of expecting a rom-com, but no, this was Sex in the City meets the Hangover. There is a part where they're going to Vegas, but don't quit make it, I would of LOVED to see them all go to Vegas. I don't think that place would be the same.
I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking for entertainment that just makes you laugh. And do keep an eye on the actress playing Megan, she is hysterical. I've seen her in other movies, as a supporting character looking completely different and much more subdued; in bridesmaids she is unfiltered and funny as hell!
Go see this movie, you'll be glad you did.

Alfred Hitchcock: The Legend Begins - 20 Movie Classics (2010) Review

Alfred Hitchcock: The Legend Begins - 20 Movie Classics (2010)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Since the days of bargain-bin videotapes by labels like Goodtimes, I've always been wary of these "too good to be true" deals. Yet, as I am quite a fan of the films of Alfred Hitchcock, I couldn't pass this one up. And for the most part, I'm glad I gambled a few bucks.
As of this writing, the majority of these films are still in the public domain and thus, not available from companies willing to spend the time and money on a proper restoration. It's worth noting, though, that some of the best films here ARE available in near-pristine condition in the 3-disc The Alfred Hitchcock Box Set (The Ring / The Manxman / Murder! / The Skin Game / Rich and Strange). Two are available in Criterion Collections: The Lady Vanishes - Criterion Collection and The 39 Steps (Criterion Collection Spine #56), while Alfred Hitchcock's Jamaica Inn can be found in a cleaned-up version from Image. For those who don't want to shell out the considerable bucks for all those, or if you're a completist (like me) who feels the need to possess EVERY film the man made, this is a good set to own.
Audio/Video quality varies among the films, but I'd consider them all watchable. Since early sound classics like SECRET AGENT and RICH AND STRANGE aren't available in better condition elsewhere, I found the transfers here to be reasonably good. Hitch's best silent film, THE LODGER, unfortunately suffers some serious contrast issues.
The real highlight of this set, however, is nearly an hour's worth of Hitchcock movie trailers. Oddly enough, none of the films contained in the set is represented with a trailer. But they cover much of the Master's career from 1940 thru the late 60's. And the quality on the trailers is far superior to that of the films.
Bottom line: For all but the most discriminating viewer, this is a worthwhile purchase. Just don't expect the quality you'd get from the major companies.

. . .but if you're looking to see what all the hype is all about with the movie '300', this dvd will certainly whet your appetite. There are interviews, clips and much more, and well worth the investment for any fan of 300, Frank Miller, and/or Gerald Butler (and not necesarily in that order), who is collecting such things.
If you've already seen the movie, and just don't have the storage space for a dvd of stuff that is already on the issued dvd, and considering that it was free with a product purchase from retailers earlier this year (AND the fact that the ticket would only be of collectible value but expired quite a number of months ago), you're better off to save your money and get the other 300 related items, such as the dvd, or the book, or the action figures.

I'm a trailer geek and was hoping for something along the lines of the 42nd Street Forever collections. In those collections, you can either watch the trailers as-is or check out the commentary. But as mentioned in the other review, the commentary is not optional here. Some of the comments are interesting and funny, but I dislike not having the choice of seeing the trailers by themselves. I am glad they put the movie and cartoons on here, because I probably won't be revisiting the trailers very often.
Also can't stand the "bumper" at the end of every single trailer, it gets very repetitive and annoying if you're watching all of these in one go. I had to keep reaching for the mute button.

Another collection of superbly trashy trailers from various exploitation movies of the 60's 70's and 80's...when HG Lewis, blaxploitation and women in prison flix ruled the drive-ins and 42nd Street. Cheezy Sci-Fi Trailers, Vol. 1 (2006) Review

Cheezy Sci-Fi Trailers, Vol. 1 (2006)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Like there aren't already enough bargain-basement video companies out there, along comes "Cheezy Flicks Entertainment." I was already suspicious when they issued The Red Planet Mars, a rarely-seen yet quite serious early 50's sci-fi film...not really "cheesy" at all. But I'm a huge fan/collector of sci-fi trailers, so I decided to give this one a try.
To say that I was disappointed is putting it mildly. Most of these trailers look like they were dubbed from VHS tapes recorded in the EP mode about 25 years ago. You can actually see the video "noise" signal in some places (if you don't know what that is, imagine a tracking error that you can't correct). The few color ones included are so washed-out, they may as well be in black & white.
Really, the only thing to recommend this collection is the fact that there are several rarely-seen trailers included: Barbarella, Fire Maidens from Outer Space, Konga, Phantom from Space, Day of the Triffids are scattered among more familiar clips like War of the Worlds, Them, and It Came From Outer Space (none of which, by the way, a real sci-fi fan would consider "cheesy").
If you like this sort of thing, and are forgiving of REALLY questionable quality, you might get a kick out of this disc. But for most viewers, it's probably not worth the money.

Grindhouse Presents, Planet Terror - Extended and Unrated (Two-Disc Special Edition) (2007) Review

Grindhouse Presents, Planet Terror - Extended and Unrated (Two-Disc Special Edition) (2007)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, a word about this childish boycott. "Grindhouse" gave us two brilliant genre films for the price of one in the theaters. It was a once in a lifetime experience for most of us and a chance to see the two most bada$* directors in Hollywood give us 3+ hours of hardcore horror entertainment including the funniest faux-trailers your likely to ever see. And it bombed. Big time. Why? Because lazy America said it'd wait for the DVD because the film was too long and lost the chance to support a truly brilliant idea and show that we are sick and tired of cardboard cutout PG-13 teen horror and bad remakes of beloved cult classics. They went to see "Disturbia" instead. "Grindhouse" was what true horror fans -hell, what all true film fanatics- have been dying for and shame on all of you who missed it. So the studio took a loss for taking a chance on this idea and as a result, they've split the two films up with extra scenes that were cut for time and are giving us these two films as we haven't yet seen them, each in double-dic editions packed with extras. Awesome, right? Weeeeeellllll, now the same whiners who stiffed the films in the theaters are angry they missed out and want both films on one DVD (as if there'd even be room) for a discount price. Sorry, but it don't work that way. The theatrical cut was packaged as just that, an experience for the theaters simulating the double-feature drive-in days of old. Even if that experience would translate to DVD, why would the company re-release it in a form that already failed miserably? The bottom line is this: we now have another chance to show that THIS is what we as horror fans want to see and the only way to do that is to buy these great-looking DVDs. The notion that making the films bomb yet again on DVD is going to lead to some super-duper deluxe theatrical edition must have been conceived in the mind of a five year old on crack. If we don't support these editions, these films will die and the studio will waste no more money on this failed project or any like it in the future. This is basic business sense. Support true horror and boycott crappy remakes and bloated sequels *cough*Spiderman3*cough* instead.
"Planet Terror" as you already know, was Robert Rodriguez's half of "Grindhouse" and while it's artistically inferior to it's sister film (Tarantino's "Death Proof"), Rodriguez brings the campy action, hardcore gore, and zombie awesomeness hard and fast like you know he can. The music, as always, rocks and grooves, the deaths will make you laugh and recoil in disgust, and Rose McGowan may well be the sexiest thing on the planet. The story is nonsense, of course, and the dialogue is hammy and shooting a grenade launcher directly into the ground will NOT launch you into the air (not in one piece, anyway) like a superhero, but this film is of the kind where this sort of unreal madness only makes you love it more and leaves you drunk and giddy with the chaos. It's silly, but you will love it. Much of "Planet Terror" makes me feel like I'm watching the most kicka$# video game ever made; a game I'd really love to play.
The movie is packed with recurring jokes and funny, memorable dialogue (much of which is based on Rose McGownan's real personality) that pays off in spades down the line. Rodriguez did not skimp on the cast, either. Sure, he cast most of his family plus his doctor and even his freakin' real-estate agent, but they are all fantastic. Bruce Willis chews the scenery, Freddy Rodriguez is THE zombie-killing machine, Quentin Tarantino plays "rapist #1", and you know it's a true undead party when Tom Savini hits the scene. Also, Fergie plays a lesbian who gets her brain eaten by the marauding undead. Yes, I know if this was realistic the scene would have played out like the Simpsons episode where the zombies moan "braaaaaainsss" as they feel her head and then, finding none, leave the so-vapid-she's-sexy pop tart to ponder her 15 minutes of fame; but like I was saying, this is not a realistic movie and any dead Black-eyed Peas member is a good one.
If anyone knows how to do extras right, it's Robert Rodriguez. You've got the standard commentary, plus the audience reaction track from the film's premiere (a personal favorite), his patented "10 minute film school", and yes, the "Machette" trailer still precedes the film. Sweet. The rest of the bonus features largely mirror the "Death Proof" DVD with lots of love for the cast and stuntpeople; very informative and very entertaining. I was actually hoping for more restored footage to the actual movie then we get (more crazy babysitter twins, anyone?) and the visual defects and missing reel -which was fun in the theater- are still there and not nearly as cute, but these are my only gripes. I could seriously write for days about all the things I love about this movie, but I'll just say one more thing before wrapping up: I sure could go for some barbeque.
"Planet Terror" brings some seriously awesome action-horror that delivers everything you want in a zombie film and you'd be a fool to pass on it just because you don't get a whole other movie free. Buy it, buy "Death Proof", and then go wave your copies at the moron down the street who's boycotting.

These are trailers from both famous and not-so-famous horror and science fiction movies. The trailers are better than the movies! I particularly like the trailer for The Beast from 20000 Fathoms and 20 Million Miles to Earth; Soldier -"Recemtly we had a spaceship crash from Venus" Girl "Venus!?"Man-"The PLANET Venus??" I love that! Anyway, a cool collection great for a Halloween party or anyone who enjoys great horror movies of the 1930s,40,50s, and 60s.
