Kipper - Let it Snow Review

Kipper - Let it Snow
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Another fun packed DVD, starring Kipper, Tiger, Pig and Arnold.
Lots of snow fun, and entertaining even when it's not Christmas.
The quality of the DVD is a lot better, with a menu that allows you to play all episodes, or choose your favorite. You can also choose to skip the previews, which is a big plus for repeat viewing.
The high point is hearing Arnold "speak", when he gets his very own igloo.
We love Kipper, and will continue to recommend the series, once the DVD's continue to be such great value for the price.

The Wiggles - Yummy Yummy Review

The Wiggles - Yummy Yummy
Average Reviews:

"Santa" brought the Wiggles "Wiggle Time" video to our house and my two daughters (ages 2 1/2 and 5 years of age) LOVED it, as did all of their friends. I particularly liked that the girls were up dancing and actually getting some exercise during the entire video, unlike most videos where kids are inclined to just sit and watch. For that reason I immediately ordered the "Yummmy Yummy" video.
The girls do love this one but my primary reason for ordering it . . . the "stand-up, dance and move" rather than "sit and stare" factor . . . isn't nearly as good in this one. There is much more down-time (as in 'sit down') on this one.
Still, THEY do enjoy it. If I were choosing between this or Wiggle Time as a parent, I'd recommend that you choose "Wiggle Time" in a heart beat for your kids, for gifts, etc.
Also, I do agree that the puppets are kind of creepy and, while they don't bother my children, they don't really keep their attention either.
They definitely love the upbeat tunes contained on this video though, every one of them.

My son got this for his 2nd birthday, and asks to watch it all the time! He loves wheels and things that go round, so this is perfect! In no time at all, he has learned the songs and sings along. He really likes the story line, and enjoys all the different things that Mr. Wheelie has that use wheels. This is one that never leaves the DVD player. Only wish is that it had a menu so that you could skip the promos - we Fast Forward through them.

Kipper - Water Play Review

Kipper - Water Play
Average Reviews:

I didn't buy this at first because I was of the impression that it was a compilation of water episodes from the other DVDs. We own most, if not all, of the other DVDs and I can't say that I've seen any of the episodes before. They may have been shown on TV, or may have been on the earlier VHS tapes, but nevertheless they were all new to me.
This one is very short at five episodes, not the length of the usual Kipper value packs, and the biggest problem is that Pig and Arnold are missing. Gotta have those pigs!
The five episodes are imaginative as usual, including a talking magic frog and an elephant, plus Kipper does a great Gene Kelly/Mary Poppins impression on an umbrella adventure.
Not the best Kipper to start with, but reasonable entertainment for seasoned veterans.

The Wiggles: Here Comes the Big Red Car (2006) Review

The Wiggles: Here Comes the Big Red Car (2006)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Yes, this is for the most part a remake of the decade old Wiggles Dance Party. Some people will contend that this is a good thing because that video shows the children's group early on without the advantages of a big budget for fancy sets and costumes. However, that video has a few things going for it that this stale and plodding remake doesn't: Charm, Wit and Enthusiam. There's just no Wiggly magic in this DVD.
As with the last few Wiggles DVD releases (Cold Spagetti Western and Sailing Around The World) this project just feels slapped together to make a quick buck. A remake of old tunes where the aging Wiggles quickly sleepwalk and lipsynch through some of their older tunes in a halfhearted effort to milk a cashcow. Yes, now the Wiggles can drive down a crowded Austrailian freeway in their fancy Big Red Car golf cart on the back of a flatbed truck but how cool is that when nothing feels inspired about the effort? The extensive touring these guys have been doing around the world of the last few years have made then wealthy and may prohibit them from having the time of turning out a good collection of new tunes/a descent DVD as you can tell the kiddie fab four are overworked these days and just aren't enjoying the gig like they used too. It's the kids entertainment and parents wallet that suffers as a result.
Missed is the peppy interaction of the 4 wiggles with one another in their wiggly world, the campy wiggly settings are gone, the young kids who interacted and danced with the wiggles have been majorly scaled back, officer beeples is MIA, the waggettes and AWOL, and the overall charm the group used to be shrouded with is dissapating. Now we get the feeling that the wiggles are more interested in touring, putting in quick appearences in their features, and turning more of the entertainment duties to the bumbling raspy singing tone deaf Captian Feathersword.
Now My kids love the good Captain when he's a secondary player that compliments the Wiggles. They quickly lose interest when he's the spotlight character though. He gets boring fast when thrust into that role with his way too large, wooden and humorless crew. The dozen or so crew members try their best to but funny but only come off robotic, overly corny and irritating. All of their scenes are poorly written, seem forced, and majorly dumbed down to even pre-schoolers. When the Wiggles were at their best they didn't treat their young audience like they were stupid. If the creative force behind these DVD efforts wants to spin the Captain off into his own series then I wish they'd get along with it; My kids and I want to see the Wiggles featured when we buy a Wiggles DVD. A little Captain Feathersword is an enjoyable thing; when he carries the show it's con job and an annoyance. I'll skip over the whole sequence where the crew keeps saying that the new pointless admiral character "Really is a good bloke!" everytime we watch this DVD in the future (thankfully it won't be often).
The two all new songs are a mixed bag as well. I don't like the captian's raspy sandpaper voice and it's best used is small quanties when propped up by Dorothy's and Greg's beautiful singing. No such luck here... "I Want To Wear The Jacket" is as repetitive as it is abysmal. The remakes of his other classic Feathersword tunes aren't too bad but the dancing sequences are uninspired. The other only other new tune is also a Captian lead song called "Sorry Again". It's got a good morale message and is propped up by some good backup vocals.
Overall "Here Comes The Big Red Car" is another poor tossed together buffet of past Wiggly classics with a huge side helping of overcooked Captain Feathersword. I hope whoever is managing and directing the Wiggles careers gets their act together because they are ruining a once great property with their poor DVD efforts. Almost all of these songs have been done several times on DVD before and pulled off with more enthusiam, panache, and sincerity.

I bought this video for my granddaughter, who is just over 2. She loves it and so do I! One poor dog, Simon, does not know how to rhyme and his mother(Mother Goose's daughter) is trying to help him by going over Mother Goose rhymes. It is clever and very funny for the adults. The children are listening to rhymes that I think all children should be exposed to and enjoying the dogs because they are so funny. Much better to watch with a child than those cartoon videos. My granddaughter always asks me to play the dogs.

The Little Cars in the Great Race (2006) Review

The Little Cars in the Great Race (2006)
Average Reviews:

I purchased this movie for my son who is 2 1/2 years old. Ever since he saw the movie "The Cars", all he wants to play with is any cars with eyes. Plus he keeps on wanting to go see the movie. So when I saw this dvd I decided to buy it for him, since the dvd for "The Cars" won't be out for a long time. The movie is not like "The Cars" at all. The computer graphics are terrible. And sometimes the lips of the cars are not in sync with the voice. But beside all that.....MY SON LOVES THE MOVIE! He wants to watch it all the time. The movie does have cars with eyes and it will keep him occupied until the real movie comes out. Overall it is satisfactory. I would recommend it for anyone who has a 2 year old child who loves cars.

Since my family and I are going to see The Wiggles for the first time in 2 days,I was excited to see this video. All I can say is WOW!!!!It's going to be a spectacular show! The Wiggles and their dancers are engaging and energetic, particularly Anthony, who to me, steals the show(although I'm not convinced he really did those back flips!).The songs are all familiar here, but the energy and enthusiasm more then makes up for that. The Wiggles find fun ways to connect with their audience, such as suggesting dance moves, and,in the song We Love Athens, getting the crowd to yell "OPAH!!" every time the Captain holds up a sign. This concert takes place in Connecticut, in the good old USA ,and they look like they're having a great time.I reccommend this dvd to anyone over the age of 3 who wants to hear lots of great music and singing ,and be thoroughly entertained. Also of special interest, are the extras at the end of the DVD.Dorothy the dinosaur takes us on a special look back at all the highlights(and a few amusing hairdos!)of The Wiggles' amazing 15 year career, from their college days(when they actually played and sang on the sidewalk!)to the present. It is really neat to see.The bonus episode of Lights!Camera!Action! is cute too.Buy this video, and you and your children will NOT be disappointed. We love it!!

My 21 month old loves the Wiggles!!! Out of the 4 Wiggles DVD's we have, the songs on Hoop-Dee-Doo aren't as catchy as the songs in Yummy Yummy. Yummy Yummy is a better DVD for the little little one's- less skits, more singing & dancing. As my son got older, (he's 21 months now) he favored Hoop-Dee-Doo. Hoop-dee-doo has much better effects and is more modern. More children are involved in this video and after the second or third time watching, you'll find yourself singing along. While Yummy Yummy used to be his favorite from 15-20 months old, Hoop-Dee-Doo is now his favorite. I'd recommend both titles. He couldn't sit still through the Wiggles Magical Adventure Movie... I'd recommend that one for older viewers. Dance Party is cute but definately outdated. After he got used to watching the other titles, he got very bored w/ Dance Party.

Kipper - Kipper Helps Out Review

Kipper - Kipper Helps Out
Average Reviews:

This is the latest Kipper DVD to be added to our collection. It only has six stories, but they're really good ones.
We didn't get the earlier VHS editions, so all the stories are new to my four year old, who thoroughly enjoys them. As a matter of fact, my two year old nephew is now a convert.
The beauty of the DVD edition is the feature which allows you to choose an episode, or play them all, or play them all continuously, the last being the favorite pick at our house.
In "The Visitor", Kipper looks after a little lost gosling. This is a good story if your kids are really messy, as Kipper is continuously cleaning up after his little charge.
"Pig's Present" tells of Pig's birthday and all the pets he receives as gifts. The part with the hamster going through Kipper's "obstacle course" is great fun.
"The Butterfly" teaches that the best things in life should be free.
"The Bleepers" will have your kids speaking strangely, and eating lollipops.
Arnold is formally introduced in "Pig's Cousin" - I had previously thought they were brothers.
"The Little Ghost" is the most entertaining story of the lot, with the most "special effects" of any Kipper episode.
If you haven't already seen the early episodes, I strongly recommend this one. If not, borrow it just for "The Little Ghost"

Kipper - Friendship Tails (2010)
Average Reviews:

My son has been watching Kipper for over a year now. He is about 4. He watches almost nothing else.
Like all Kipper DVDs it is simply and beautifully illustrated, not too fast paced or loud, and humorous.
What I like best about the Kipper series is that it teaches good values in a subtle way, which doesn't insult my children's intelligence.
This DVD is still great, but for some reason, not his favorite, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
It runs for 50 minutes, and has 6 episodes.
1) Sleepless Night- Kipper can't settle down, he tries different things to get to sleep.
2) Hiccups- Kipper gets really frustrated by hiccups, he tries tons of things, standing on his head, getting scared by others, etc. (My son's favorite episode)
3) Kipper is Unwell- Kipper gets ink on his face and everyone thinks he has chicken pox, and avoids him. He can't understand why.
4) The Conker Tree- Kipper and Tiger want to rescue a kitten from a conker tree.
5) The Jumble Sale- Kipper cleans out his closets and brings unused things to the sale, Tiger surprises him with lots of new presents to stuff up his closet with again.
6) Tiger's Cold- Tiger is sick and being very difficult with Kipper. He learns to be more considerate when the tables are turned on him though.
If this is your first Kipper purchase, I recommend instead
Puppy Love, Fun in the Sun, or Playtime.

Kipper - Cuddly Critters Review

Kipper - Cuddly Critters
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Like all Kipper DVDs, this one is great value for money. Seven child-pleasing episodes make for an hour of fun, and this one is especially good for animal lovers. Martin Clunes again provides the voice for Kipper, and Chris Lang for everybody else.
The 7 episodes are:
The Nest - Kipper and Tiger come across a little lost bird, and while trying to get it back to its nest, they decide to try living in a tree. The worm hunting scene is hilarious, as is the nest building exercise.
Jake's Bird - Jake's pet bird flies the coop, and Kipper and Pig team up to help find it. They find more than they bargain for.
Echo, Echo - A clever parrot makes Kipper think he's hearing things. The parrot is an extremely funny character, with all the "good" lines.
The Goldfish - Kipper and Tiger both have aquatic pets, at least temporarily. The goldfish takes sweet revenge.
The Mouse - Kipper gets an uninvited house guest (The mouse is a little annoying)
Hide and Seek - More mouse play and lessons in counting
Hedgehog Watch - A spiky critter gets the upper hand on Kipper and Tiger.
Great for pre-school or kindergarten kids, and for adults needing a little peace and quiet.Amanda Richards, October 28, 2005

The Wiggles - Wiggly Safari Review

The Wiggles - Wiggly Safari
Average Reviews:

I think this video sums up what the Wiggles are all about - singing fun songs for kids and having fun while they are doing it. This video features Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter as well as your Wiggle Favourites - Geoff, Murray, Anthony, Jeff, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog and Dorothy the Dinosaur.
The Crocodile Hunter is a scream! If you have ever seen him you know that his enthusiasm for life and animals is infectious. A wonderful choice for the Wiggles to make a video with.
Every song is about Australia wildlife and not only do you get to sing about it, you learn a little about the animal from the Crocodile Hunter and the Wiggles and you also get to see the animal in a very natural setting at Steve and Terri's Irwin's zoo (Australia Zoo, located on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia).
I cannot recommend this video high enough, especially if your toddler is already a fan. They'll learn alot about Australian animals and have fun doing the dance moves to each songs. I have two girls - almost 3 and 18 months and they love this video! They are huge Wiggles fans.
You will not be disappointed.

Kipper - Playtime (2005)
Average Reviews:

This Kipper video features 7 episodes and runs for 1 hour.
For newcomers, this cartoon is simply and beautifully illustrated, moves at a leisurely pace, and teaches life lessons without being preachy.
The episodes included are as follows:
The treasure hunt- Tiger brings over a metal detector but gets frustrated when he finds nothing but junk with it. Kipper helps out by burying his piggy bank for Tiger to find.
Looking after Arnold- Kipper babysits little Arnold one afternoon, and exhausts himself (I'm sure parents of toddlers can relate to that one).
Tiger's Joke Box- Tiger plays practical jokes on everyone, and ends up being the butt of a joke himself
Pig's Sweater- really funny, Pig insists on wearing his new sweater, even if it's sweltering outside.
Clay Time- the whole gang has fun with a potter's wheel.
The Magic Carpet- Kipper takes a trip to the moon and meets friendly aliens. (Your child may ask for a magic carpet after this one).
Kipper the Hero- Kipper helps rescue a kitten caught in a tree.
My almost 4 year old will watch nothing but Kipper. I actually find myself laughing along with the characters when I watch with him.

When Ernie drops by "The Furry Arms" hotel to return a missing key he found, he ends up giving everyone a lesson in counting, and also ends up getting hired as hotel manager! Ernie soon discovers that when he "Dings The Dinger", Benny The Bunny (Kevin Clash-who also does Elmo) will bring him something different everytime, depending on the number of times he dings. For example, when Ernie dings 3 times, Benny brings 3 pillows. Ernie however, does not need the pillows, and tells Benny he's glad he now knows what happens when he dings 3 times. This running gag goes during the entire video, and it gets quite funny. Most of the segments in this video are well chosen, such as a neat segment with singing crows, and the fantastic "Honk Around The Clock"! I also find the new songs very catchy, and have found myself sing them quite often! This not only gets five stars becalse it's much better then "The Great Numbers Game", but also becalse it's extremely funny! In recent years, The Furry Arms seems to have been deleted from the show. Why? It was such a great place, and I liked Natasha's parents having a job! Oh, well. At least we have this video!

Sesame Street - Kids' Favorite Songs 2 (2010) Review

Sesame Street - Kids' Favorite Songs 2 (2010)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This Sesame Street DVD is kind of disappointing. We purchased for my 15-month old daugher. She loves the Kids Favorite Songs 1, so we figured she would enjoy this one too. Turns out that this one spends 1/3 of the time interviewing the kids so find out what they think things mean. Example: When they sing the song "The Bear Went Over the Mountain", they spend 2 minutes asking the kids where they think he went. When they say the Nursery Rhyme "Mary, Mary Quite Contrary", they get some weird answers about what the kids think "Cockshells" are.
They have some of the kids put a tune to some of the nursery rhymes on here that I am not even sure were meant to be sung to any tune in particular....it kind of just ends of hurting your ears.
When they do get around to singing, it is actually ok. "The Bear Went Over the Mountain," and "The Wheels on the Bus," are pretty good.
A lot of this video is just spent with kids poking at each other and acting silly/goofy at their own answers. I probably wouldn't purchase it again.
