All My Loved Ones Review

All My Loved Ones
Average Reviews:

All My Loved Ones is the story of a young Czech boy named David Silberstein and his large 'family'. At the start of the movie, we meet David's family, such as his best friend Sosha. During the course of the movie, we see how, little by little, the nazis begin to take control of the Jews life, starting with small things such as cars, and working up to David's father's (Dr. Silberstein) job. At long last, The Silbersteins make a last attempt to save David by putting him up for adoption in Great Britain, thanks to English stockbroker Nicholas Winton, who saved hundreds of children through this method.
This movie is very historically accurate, and is also a very good story.
But, I must warn you, be ready to cry your heart out!!!

We rented this because my kids liked the other Unstable Fables movies and they really loved this one. My 7 year old was talking about the jokes after the movie ended and singing the "Family" song, and wanted to play it again the next day. We wanted to buy it when we returned it, but the Blockbuster already sold out. My husband thought it was funny too. I reccommend for families.

Once Upon a Christmas / Twice Upon a Christmas (2001) Review

Once Upon a Christmas / Twice Upon a Christmas (2001)

If you like the christmas movies on abc family, you'll like these...a little slow, but heartfelt and leaves you feeling good, if somewhat perplexed that the movie came to an abrupt end. Kathy Ireland is Santas daughter and Santa threatens to take a vacation from xmas since no one has spirit anymore. She decides to try and get a family off of the naughtly list to convince Santa otherwise. Posing as a live in caregiver for the children she enters their lives and tries to change them. Meanwhile her evil sister tries to thwart her plans so that she can take over as santa. Kathy is a bit like Roma/touched by an angel, but she has some good moments. Overall I give it 3 stars.

I thought this movie was made really well. This has been the greatest family movie I have ever seen. It had me laughing and crying at the same time. This is a film that the whole family can enjoy from 0 to 99 years old. And I believe that your whole family will love this movie and watch it everyday like I do.

Skellig: The Owl Man (2009) Review

Skellig: The Owl Man (2009)

I ended up watching this twice in one day. It was THAT good. Anyone who knows Tim Roth's work knows, he doesn't choose bad roles to play. This is no different. He was so good in a role of a lone man living (or dying) in a shed and somewhere deep down, the aid he is given by the boy is necessary if not wanted.
Foreshadowing in the movie may be missed the first viewing so I highly recommend watching more than once. It was more enjoyable the second viewing.
The reviews/description of the movie tells all that needs to be known other than my recommendation.
5 stars!

Triggerman Review

Triggerman
Average Reviews:

Terence Hill continues the adventures of 'DOC WEST' in this direct sequel to the original. The same characters return with the same actors with a surprise appearance by Euro actress Ornella Muti making it seem Hill may be creating a potential series. It seems our hero is still in the town of Holy Sands and is running out of money to send to his daughter so West's inamorata who is the teacher in town suggests building a hospital. Naturally, it takes money so it doesn't take long for West and the Sheriff played excellently by Paul Sorvino to set up a major poker tournament so that West, the best poker player in the area, can clean up and win. Naturally, their are bad guys around to put a wrench in the proceedings which makes this outing a bit grittier than the first film. However, the sentimentality is still there and the credits including the continuation of Maurizio De Angelis's great music score are up to the standards of the original. If you liked the first one (like I did), you'll love this one. It's worth it just to see the great Terence Hill looking comedic and lethal in the same shot and bringing honor and loyalty back to the Western genre. Doc, you rule!!

The Long Shot (2004) Review

The Long Shot (2004)

Julie Benz is a fantastic focus of a woman who overcomes more than a fair share of hardship. Her tactic of riding at night has always been a favorite of mine and tugged at my heartstrings. This movie was definitely made for horse lovers as almost every single shot is horses horses horses. Pointedly, there are a few horses that constantly appear, woven into the storyline to effectively become your friends as well. Regretfully there are some slow spots in the movie, however, anyone who has attempted showing in Dressage, from the first painful day of sitting in that saddle to that first ribbon will identify with this movie making it well worth their while.

This is a really great family movie. I recommend it for anyone to watch. It is really cute and the music is really great throughout the film. I just wish that they would make a soundtrack of the whole songs. I would certainly buy that. It is a must see.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (The Friendship Edition) (1977) Review

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (The Friendship Edition) (1977)
Average Reviews:

Despite new packaging and a hokey new subtitle, this release of Disney's original three Winnie the Pooh featurettes is actually identical to the 2002 "25th Anniversary Edition" -- same video, same audio, same bonus features. And for once, that's good! That earlier DVD transfer was already digitally restored and had some good extras, including "A Day for Eeyore" and one of Disney's better making-of documentaries, but was pulled off the shelves early last year. Now, however, it's back, with the same vibrant colors, sharp focus and near-perfect 5.1 soundtrack.
In other words, this is Disney at its best. "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" is a charming, gentle, quality film that hasn't aged a bit and looks and sounds terrific. Unless you already own the "25th Anniversary Edition," this new release is a must.
Actually, there is one new bonus feature: an episode of the computer-animated Disney Channel series, "My Friends Tigger and Pooh." In case you haven't seen it, it adds two new characters to the story: Darby, a 6-year-old girl, and her dog Buster.

Homeward Bound - The Incredible Journey / Homeward Bound II - Lost In San Francisco (2008) Review

Homeward Bound - The Incredible Journey / Homeward Bound II - Lost In San Francisco (2008)

Just a technical review: Two disc collection. The first movie is in FULL SCREEN (why why oh why???), has a theatrical trailer. The second movie is in widescreen and has no trailer. The first disc is clearly a first edition from WB as it has the design of their early discs, nice silkscreened with a pale coating that lets the title and info be readable, while the second is a "picture" disc with all artwork pasted on the disc. Seems like a rushed thing to make this double-pack which could have been done better in my opinion.
Still, good value.

George of the Jungle (1997) Review

George of the Jungle (1997)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A friend gave my kids this movie--I didn't buy it because the idea of a live-action GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE seemed silly to me. Fortunately for my family, this movie is silly in a good way, gleefully silly, with lots of physical comedy, puns, in-jokes, and high ridiculousness. This movie has good-natured fun. The casting of Fraser and Mann as George and Ursula is inspired, and Cleese as the voice of Ape works wonders. Movies that elicit joyful instead of derisive laughter deserve our attention, so unless you're sensitive about the requisite animal excrement jokes (the easiest way to avoid a "G" rating), watch this movie with your kids. Then watch it with your buddies. It might even be a good date movie.
The DVD package, however, offers another example of Disney's charging premium prices for few extras. Unfortunately, the disc is also pan-and-scan instead of widescreen. If you already own the videotape, you might as well wait and hope that Disney upgrades the DVD package.

Disney presents the smash hit comedy that families and critics everywhere went bananas over! Deep in the heart of the African jungle, a baby named George, the sole survivor of a plane crash, is raised by gorillas. George grows up to be a buff and lovable klutz (ENCINO MAN'S Brendan Fraser) who has a rain forest full of animal friends -- like Tookie, his big-beaked messenger, Ape, a talking gorilla who's smarter than your average rocket scientist, and Shep, a gray-haired peanut-loving pooch of an elephant! When poachers mess with George's pals, the King Of Swing swings into action. But before you can say, "Watch out for that tree," George comes face-to-bark with a few vine-covered obstacles! You'll go wild for this "wonderfully wacky comedy" that People Magazine calls "impossible to resist!"

Soldier Love Story (2010) Review

Soldier Love Story (2010)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Loughlin (Dana) plays a young professional and single parent who went through a divorce and has custody of a 10 yr old son (Jared). Starting their new life they move 1600 miles from the only home Jared has ever known.
Dana and Jared move in with Dana's mother played by Stephanie Powers. It was great seeing Stephanie Powers acting and offering light but powerful spiritual suggestions and at times great motherly and grandmotherly advice.
Dana is teaching her 10 yr old son some important life lessons that on occasion are spiritual. I love the way she teaches him to look for and be thankful for things they have. Spirituality is not over-done but instead very beautifully planted!
Dana starts a new job, Jared starts a new school and together they start a new life. Jared's biological father moves far a way and makes empty promises to spend time with him.
Randomly chosen Jared's teacher assigns the students to write a letter to soldiers. Jared writes to Sergeant Vince Carerra (played by Johnny Messner). Vince a likeable but lonely soldier soon reaches out to 10 yr old Jared first through writing and then in person to offer some suggestions about playing baseball. Vince soon becomes a positive male role model for Jared. Jared begins to like baseball with the help of coaching from Vince. It helps Jared develop friends.
It doesn't take Jared long to "fakes an illness" to set up time for his mother Dana and mentor Vince to spend time alone.
Sergeant Carerra is relationship shy --as is Dana. Vince, Dana and Jared spend time together and begin a unique bond. For Dana and Vince loving one another becomes natural.
The real test comes when Sergeant Carerra is to be deployed unexpectedly and everything comes to a halt within 10 days.
Will Dana let go of the relationship that occurred so soon after her divorce? Will Vince let Dana go rather than dealing with the pain created by an ex wife?
Jared has been told the union "ran out of time".
Will Jared accept the sadness his mother's heart?
Lori Loughlin does a fantastic job acting as Jared's mother. Each time she is in a movie she just gets better and better. That was the first time I have seen Johnny Messner in movie. I enjoyed his southern accent not to mention how relaxed he appears through out the movie.
This movie was excellent and I would love to see a sequel to this movie. If you enjoy romance, family, and respect for our soldiers and not to mention a little religion/spirituality being a part of a real movie----this is a good one to get!
