It's been said that songs are for sharing, and learning the words to your favorite songs has never been so much fun when you sing along with the video slips from some of the classic Disney movies, and their memorable musical scenes.
This great collection is highlighted by a rainbow of magical scenes and unforgettable songs from Walt Disney's first animated Classic - Snow White, plus there's Lady and the Tramp, Pinocchio, and a host of others.
Some of the highlights include:
-Heigh Ho
-Up, Down and Touch the Ground (Winnie the Pooh)
- Hi Diddle Dee Dee
-Yo HO
- The Dwarf's Yodel Song
-Theme for Zorro
-Siamese Cat Song
-Let's Go Fly a Kite,
and there are others, and the animation in this video is just plain wonderful.
A highly recommended movie for the whole family!!!

The Maid (2005) Review

The Maid (2005)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Like a lot of the other reviewers, I'm a big fan of Asian horror of all kinds--I had overlooked this modest little film until now, but it was reasonably entertaining and, despite the occasional silliness, has a cohesive plot and some good effects. (There's a very brief moment when the shadow of a passing coffin falls over a young woman's face, which then contorts into the most terrifying expression I've ever seen. I don't know if it was CGI or not, but it's *really* creepy.)
It's not exactly non-stop terror and the young heroine's cluelessness occasionally gets irritating, but I still found it preferable to some of the earlier j- and k-horror movies that suffer from disjointed plots and ridiculous inconsistencies. Stylistically, it's much closer to the Pang brothers' Eye movies.

Smoke Jumper (2008) Review

Smoke Jumper (2008)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After proving that she's as strong as any man, scrawny 128 lb., former firefighter Kristin Scott (Burns) gets hired as a smoke jumper. The acting is mediocre at best. The film is mildly entertaining. Scott is at odds with her sister, who holds Scott responsible for their father's death. As soon as the sister announced her plans for going on a camping trip in the woods, I knew exactly what was going to happen. You will too. The plot is predictable. So is the syrupy-sweet ending.
If you're in the mood for a mild movie-of-the-week type flick that takes no thought or concentration, go for it. Otherwise don't bother. It's like eating soup when you really want meat and potatoes.

Men in Black (1997) Review

Men in Black (1997)

I see many people have beat me to reviewing the movie, so I'll review the DVD(s). First of all, if you haven't played the DVDs, you don't know what you're missing! Compare the greatest DVD you've seen before with either of these two and you'll see just how many features we have here! The Collectors' Series has features like the two theatrical trailers for MIB, visual (or audio) commentary, a behind-the-scenes featurette, a behind-the-scenes look at the metamorphosis of MIB, the deconstruction of the tunnel scene, and studies of the 3 main CGI creatures: the Jeebs head transformation, the worm guys (carrying the cigarettes), the opening scene revelation of Mikey, extended and alternate scenes, a mess of storyboards, storyboard-to-film comparisons, behind-the-scenes photos, and conceptual art, and the music video. As you can see, this is one CRAMMED single-layer disc. But only buy the so-called "Limited Edition" if you're a DVD fan that will go to ends of the earth to get a ridiculous amount of features (some of which you won't even want) on a DVD (or two) for it. Also, only get it if you're a reluctant DVD owner and you hate having to watch movies in anything but fullscreen. Because all the Limited Edition has more is the fullscreen presentation, the Edgar Bug Fight scene deconstruction, a few extra conceptual art and the so-called "scene-editing workshop". If you're willing to pay so much extra for only those features, feel free, but you can get 3/4 of the features of the Limited Edition on the Collectors' Series and save a lot of money.

Diana - Her True Story (1993) Review

Diana - Her True Story (1993)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an excellent movie, depicting all facets of Princess Diana, good and bad. The actors do an excellent job. The movie starts with a significant event in young Diana's life, (her mother leaving), then moves on to her years as a Sloane Ranger, then to the courtship between her and the prince, the wedding, and problems she endured during her marriage. It goes up to the point where she and Charles decide to live in separate residences (around 1992 or so.)
The actress portraying the Queen bears an uncanny likeness to Her Majesty. The only thing that I disliked was the way the hair was styled on Serena Scott Thomas, who portrays Princess Diana. Di was known for her famous feathered haircut during her courtship and wedding; it was copied a lot, especially in Great Britain. Ms. Thomas looks like she is wearing a big, poufy wig. The hair does not at all resemble the way the Princess wore hers.
Other than this hair gaffe, I thought this film was well-done. I recommend it highly.

This film was done in 1995 so of course the hair dos are a bit dated. But for one low price to get 3 decent fun sexy films on one disk I think it's a great deal. This combo DVD is also a great gift to give to an older friend, aunt or grandma who likes reading harlequin tyes of books, but who you'd never give an explicit adult film to (I'm over 45, so I think someone 20 something wouldn't care for this). The stories are classic fantasy and the videography is professional and decently done. Again the value is really a good one, there is over 200 minutes on this disk. An entertaining collection to sit and watch with a glass of wine.

The VoyeurAdapted from Lonnie Barbach s Erotic Edge. This erotic film is lush, sensuous, and full of exciting ideas to set off sparks in any relationship. When their 10-year marriage begins to stale, Brenda (Kim Dawson) and James (Al Sapienza) rekindle their desires by sharing their innermost fantasies. While away at a weekend in the Napa Valley wine country, James reveals his ultimate fantasy to observe Brenda making love to another man and their passion reaches all new heights.Cabin Fever: Adapted from Valerie Kelly's "Berlioz and the Ghetto Blaster" in Lonnie Barbach's book Erotic Interlude. She was a long way from anywhere. Then he arrived. An attractive, middle-aged artist. Handsome, strong and virile, the bare-chested young man works at gardening and carpentry ... and patiently softens the defenses of the solitary woman. At first she's withdrawn and disapproving, but soon her own dormant hungers awaken, and the two are inexorably drawn to a passionate union. The Hottest BidJessica (Gwen Somers) is a jaded but successful attorney who attends a charity bachelor auction andmakes a statementabout men by paying top dollar for a date with a pet dog. Upset and disappointed, Jessica turns to lawyer friend, Marty (Tracy Miller) but he already has his hands full dealing with Angelique (Belinda Ferrell), who purchased him at the same auction.Filled with sensual encounters, this film is smart, humorous and sophisticated.

Jurassic Park (1993) Review

Jurassic Park (1993)

When a rich entrapreneur finances a bold experiment, and succeeds in the cloning of Dinosaurs, he needs the authorization of a few experts and critics to ok his new attraction after a fatal accident occurs. However, during the tour, a Tropical Storm hits the secluded island of Isla Nublar, and all hell breaks loose....and that pretty much sums up one of the greatest movies ever to grace the silver screen. It was only a matter of time before the release of the Special Edition DVD.
Usually when you see the words 'Special Edition' you can look forward to Deleted Scenes, Outtakes and behind the scenes documentaries. Well, unfortunately, there really isn't much anything 'special' about this. Don't get me wrong, the quality of the movie is outstanding. I have never seen the movie in such great sound and picture quality before. There are a few 'making of' documentaries and other related things. There are also a few trailers. However, there is some footage that is still missing from the movie, footage that was NOT cut in the theatrical release, but was cut in the transition to home video. Now on DVD you would expect some of these scenes back. That is not the case. There really isnt much making the DVD 'special' other than its incredibly high quality and behind the scenes documentaries. There are also some fun facts about the Dinosaurs on the island, but it still feels like there could have been more. All in all, a very good DVD, a must own for fans of the movie.

Steven Spielberg's 1993 mega-hit rivals Jaws as the most intense and frightening film he'd ever made prior to Schindler's List, but it was also among his weakest stories. Based on Michael Crichton's novel about an island amusement park populated by cloned dinosaurs, the film works best as a thrill ride with none of the interesting human dynamics of Spielberg's Jaws. That lapse proves unfortunate, but there's no shortage of raw terror as a rampaging T-rex and nasty raptors try to make fast food out of the cast. The effects are still astonishing (despite the fact that the computer-generated technology has since been improved upon) and at times primeval, such as the sight of a herd of whatever-they-are scampering through a valley. --Tom Keogh

The Boys of St. Vincent (1994) Review

The Boys of St. Vincent (1994)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Horror films as such have nothing on the THE BOYS OF ST. VINCENT. Loosely based on the Roman Catholic child molestation scandals as they unfolded in Canada, this 1991 film was first show on Canadian television but later shown theatrically in the United States. Directed by John N. Smith, featuring an extraordinary cast, and boasting an excellent script, the film is one of the most fearsome experiences you could ever endure.
The story falls into two parts, first offering a portrait of St. Vincent, a Catholic orphanage for boys, as it existed in the early 1970s; then presenting a portrait of the various characters some fifteen years later as the original accusations of child molestation and abuse result in a high profile court case. The film focuses on a number of characters, but most particularly on Henry Czerny, who begins the film as Brother Lavin of St. Vincent--a truly dangerous pedophile who uses his position to sate his desires while also looking the other way re abuse of children by other Brothers at the orphanage. When the scandal at last breaks around him, it is quickly hushed up by the authorities, and Lavin leaves the church. Some fifteen years later he is a respected businessman, a husband, and the father of two sons when the long-forgotten and covered-up case begins to explode relentlessly in the public eye.
The cast is truly amazing here, chief among them Henry Czerny as Lavin, who creates a truly multilayered portrait of a man at once pitful but both vicious and dangerous. Equally amazing are the cast of children and their adult counterparts in the latter half of the film, most particularly Johnny Morina and Sebastian Spence, who play the role of Kevin as a child and an adult respectively.
Perhaps the single most impressive accomplishment of the film is the delicate balancing act director Smith achieves, a stance which does not attack the Catholic Church as an institution but which relentlessly exposes the corruption that can exist within it. The film does contain some child nudity, all of it "back shots," and while some may find this in questionable taste it is all carefully filmed and not explotational--and indeed has the effect of further demonstrating the innocence of the children while emphasizing the evil of those who abuse them.
Painful as the film it is, I cannot recommend it too strongly. It should be seen by every responsible adult, not simply for the artistry involved in its presentation, but for the warning it offers. A must see.

Inside the walls of St. Vincent's Orphanage, young boys fall victim to sexual, physical and emotional abuse at the hands of their guardians. Henry Czerny (Mission: Impossible, Clear and Present Danger) gives a terrifying performance as Brother Lavin, the head of the orphanage who must juggle the teachings of the church with his own personal demons. The plight of the boys under his care remains a secret until the orphanage janitor and a local policeman speak out against the Brothers' appalling treatment of the orphans. During the ensuing investigation, the boys courageously testify against the Brothers. Fearing a scandal, religious and civil authorities conspire to shut down the case and quietly transfer the accused Brothers to new postings. Fifteen years later, still unhealed, the victims go public with their ordeal. As the veil of secrecy is finally lifted, their story will shock the world. From the director of Dangerous Minds comes this controversial story that was one of the year's most powerful and critically acclaimed films.

Catherine's Pain (2010) Review

Catherine's Pain (2010)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Having purchased and viewed a few of Bill Zebub's low budget efforts I have a fair sense of where he's coming from and how well he's achieving it. A couple of his favorite genres are obviously horror & sexploitation and his 'films' (actually most are shot direct to video) are often awash in transgressive imagery and plot lines. Occasionally Zebub pokes fun at himself and the genre with some satirical flair ("Assmonster" and "Dolla Morte" come to mind) and these can be sorta amusing in a heavy-handed way. On other occasions Bill takes himself 'seriously' and often the result is somewhat less successful... which is how I would rate "Catherine's Pain".
Having now sat through this mean-spirited little flik I'd have to say that it was a pretty hack exercise. It is mentioned within the film's 'extras' section that this movie is actually a re-make/re-packaging of one of Zebub's earlier efforts: "Rape Is A Circle". Buried somewhere in the 'plot' there appears to be a moralistic glimmer that Zebub is attempting to show the causal motivation for his female lead character's, otherwise somewhat inexplicable, actions in kidnapping two innocent females and subjecting them to a bunch of torturous indignities. Sounds like it could be 'hot', but, believe me, it's not. When the film lapsed into bringing out the Barbi dolls to provide some 'artful' symbolism it totally lapsed into absurdity. Like all Zebub flix there is a goodly helping of topless girls, but even that can't save this one.

Kipper - Kipper Helps Out Review

Kipper - Kipper Helps Out
Average Reviews:

This is the latest Kipper DVD to be added to our collection. It only has six stories, but they're really good ones.
We didn't get the earlier VHS editions, so all the stories are new to my four year old, who thoroughly enjoys them. As a matter of fact, my two year old nephew is now a convert.
The beauty of the DVD edition is the feature which allows you to choose an episode, or play them all, or play them all continuously, the last being the favorite pick at our house.
In "The Visitor", Kipper looks after a little lost gosling. This is a good story if your kids are really messy, as Kipper is continuously cleaning up after his little charge.
"Pig's Present" tells of Pig's birthday and all the pets he receives as gifts. The part with the hamster going through Kipper's "obstacle course" is great fun.
"The Butterfly" teaches that the best things in life should be free.
"The Bleepers" will have your kids speaking strangely, and eating lollipops.
Arnold is formally introduced in "Pig's Cousin" - I had previously thought they were brothers.
"The Little Ghost" is the most entertaining story of the lot, with the most "special effects" of any Kipper episode.
If you haven't already seen the early episodes, I strongly recommend this one. If not, borrow it just for "The Little Ghost"

Disney Sing Along Songs - Let's Go to the Circus
Average Reviews:

My 2-year-old loves the "Sing-along-Songs" videos so I've seen most of them. This is one that adults can watch and enjoy along with their children. Disney characters are prominent but not oppressive. Most of the circus acts feature children as performers and some include the "Disney" children as well. One surprise is that the featured clown (unnamed in the credits) is David Larible, Ringling Brothers "clown of clowns." He is excellent and interacts well with the Disney characters. The bell ringing routine is very funny--even after you've seen it 35 times!

One Six Left Review

One Six Left
Average Reviews:

Having viewed One Six Right on Discovery HD Theater, I decided to get both the HD-DVD version of this film along with this "companion DVD."
However, unlike the beautifully produced original, this one is quite a let-down. While the making of One Six Right is interesting in its own right, I'm not sure if it warranted its own companion DVD, at least not in its present form.
While the interviews with Brian Terwilliger and others about the difficulties of making the film were interesting (among them, Los Angeles World Airports which owns VNY did not originally cooperate with the project), I would have liked to have seen more interviews with the pilots seen in the original. Terwilliger himself said the interviews alone consisted of 80-100 hours of raw footage, and this DVD would have been a great opportunity to include interesting parts of these interviews that had to be cut out of the original for brevity's sake.
Three of this DVD's own extras, "The Joyride", "Into the Clouds", and "Movie Montage" are already featured on the HD-DVD version with the added bonus of being in high definition, unlike the companion which is standard definition only. In fact, the extras portion of the HD-DVD version of One Six Right has better and more content than this companion DVD does.
At best, this DVD should be included with the standard definition version of the original as a two-disc set, and whatever footage isn't already duplicated in the HD-DVD version be integrated into that.

Matt Helm - The Silencers (1966) Review

Matt Helm - The Silencers (1966)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've waited many years to see this fearsome foursome of cheese find a decent release in DVD. Sadly, thanks to bad cropping and seemingly random censorship, it still hasn't happened yet.
The four films are, of course, The Silencers, Murderers' Row, The Ambushers, and The Wrecking Crew. (A fifth intallment was storeyboarded but never shot.)
Letting the studio off the hook by saying things like "widescreen areas always crop full frame versions," is being much too gracious in the face of these money-grabbing studio weasels who also CUT entire parts of the film and never even gave you an original trailer.
And I should know about the widescreen concept, since I am, after all, the chairman of the WWS - the Widescreen Watchers Society. (Yes, my organization has a movie site online, but an Amazon review is not the place to plug it by posting links to it.)
Rather I just wanted to point out that it is instead within the "full frame" or "standard screen" format that all cropping takes place. The most dominant style is pan-and -scan, which is done by zooming in on whatever the film editor decides is the most important area on screen at any given moment.
That's why you often end up with the ridiculous sight of one person chattering happily away to the air for long periods of time, since you can't see the other person he's talking to. And because of the zoom effect, naturally you also get a more blurred focus on the overall picture.
But a presentation in widescreen, whether it be a regular rectangle (Vista-Vision style) or a more narrow rectangle (Panavison style), or somewhere in between, never cuts out frames and/or zooms in after the fact at any point. This gives you the vast difference of ultimate picture composition in crystal clarity, resulting in the best total viewing experience possible - which is why the original director filmed it that way for its theatrical release in the first place!
How today's studios stamping out inferior DVDs think the public will never notice such a huge difference is completely mind-boggling! And who buys most of the DVDs of older movies anyway? Film buffs who are very picky about such things to begin with!
RECOMMENDATION: Wait until all four films are put out together in an improved deluxe edition - TRUE widescreen (non-cropped and non-censored), featuring behind the scenes featurettes (which they shot back in the '60s as long commercials for such films), surviving crew interviews, trailers, etc. Otherwise, forget it.
Hey, Rat Pack fans - or just fans of Dean Martin in general - you know ol' Dino deserves far BETTER than this shoddy treatment! Mama mia!

Uncle Tom's Cabin (1987) Review

Uncle Tom's Cabin (1987)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Many books have been made into movies. When this is done, the movie is often looked at very critically and is consistently compared to the book. Too often, the movie doesn't succeed and falls short of the expectations set by the book. Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin is an example of this. The movie, Uncle Tom's Cabin, sadly, does not live up to the book.
Uncle Tom's Cabin is about two slaves who are sold from their homes in Kentucky. Uncle Tom and Eliza's son Harry are both sold to Haley, but they respond to this news differently. Eliza takes Harry and runs away to Canada. Uncle Tom accepts slavery and is sold down South.
The movie Uncle Tom's Cabin doesn't tell the story very well. It leaves out some major scenes and changes some important facts. For example, Eliza crossed the river in the spring. There was no ice to jump across so she just swam. This was an important scene in the book and the entire essence of it is missing in the movie. In addition, the Bird family is completely left out of the movie! Their role was very important in the book. It showed slavery from the viewpoint of a senator's family. Also, George Shelby was changed to Christopher Shelby in the movie. They never even told the ending in the movie! They went on to explain that a war was fought and the slaves were free, but we never find out what happens to two slaves who run away from the southern plantation owner's house. Thankfully, the plot is the same, and much of the story is still there. But these differences are very annoying and unnecessary.
I thought the movie was pretty good, but adding these scenes and correcting the mistakes would have made it much better. I liked it that this movie was formatted for movie purposes instead of a play. The camerawork was very good and made it enjoyable to watch. This movie was a good attempt at transferring Uncle Tom's Cabin to a movie.
However, despite the good qualities this movie had, I still think it had plenty of room for improvement. A few corrections, and this could have been an excellent movie. The mistakes simply made it hard to watch without getting upset. Hopefully, if they try again, they'll do better and correct their mistakes.

Bubble (2006) Review

Bubble (2006)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In a small town on the Ohio and West Virgina border, Martha and Kyle work together at the local doll factory. Martha is a middle-aged, unmarried woman who lives with her infirmed father and takes care of him. Kyle is an unfocused young man, who never finished high school and still lives with his mom in the local trailer park. Martha and Kyle are "friends." Martha picks Kyle up for work everyday, and she even drives him to his other job at the shovel factory in the same town. Everything is normal until the doll factory hires a new worker. The new worker, Rose, is a single mother around Kyle's age. Rose and Kyle become good friends, and even go out on a date together. All of these incidents come together to lead to tragic consequences about halfway through the film.
Bubble is really an odd, intense film. The character of Martha seems to paint a picture of a life of pointlessness, loneliness, and sadness. Martha obviously thinks more of her relationship with Kyle than he does. Their conversations are never complicated, and are filled with plenty of awkward silences. In fact, the silences are some of the best parts of Bubble. All the conversations feel completely real. Maybe it was Steven Soderbergh's choice to use non-actors for the film's main roles, or maybe it was the writing, but either way, the film feels very normal and realistic.
Some people would argue that nothing actually happens for the first 40 minutes of the film; and they would be right. The first 40 minutes consist mostly of talks between Martha and Kyle, and silent shots of Martha going about her pathetic, lonely existence in the small town. However, once the murder happens, the film becomes much more interesting on a more normal level of film entertainment. I personally enjoyed the entire film, which runs a very short length of about 75 minutes.
Obviously, the point of the film isn't the mystery. It's more about life in this small, poor town, where no one can seem to get out and make a good life for themselves. Martha's father is still there. Kyle's mother is still there. Rose's ex-boyfriend is still there. And when all their lives intersect for that one night, there are terrible consequences. I really enjoyed the film, but I don't think I'd watch it again, and normal filmgoers will probably not enjoy the slow, deliberate pacing and lack of action.
Hey, it is a step up from Ocean's 12, at least.
